Suzanne Dellal, August 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p dir=\"ltr\">.photo- Emmanuel Gat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tel Aviv Dance Festival opened on a\nhigh note with <em>Suzanne<\/em>, commissioned by Inbal Dance Company from\nEmmanuel Gat, world renowned Israeli choreographer, residing in southern France\nfor the past fifteen years. Gat has there a successful dance company, yet this\nis the first time he agreed to create an original work for an Israeli dance company,\nsince he wisely had left for greener pastures. The current Inbal company is a\nrelatively new offspring of the original Inbal, founded in 1949, and has a\npromising future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/emanuel-gat-premiers-SUZANNE-444-photo-by-emanuel-gat-2021-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/emanuel-gat-premiers-SUZANNE-444-photo-by-emanuel-gat-2021-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/emanuel-gat-premiers-SUZANNE-444-photo-by-emanuel-gat-2021-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/emanuel-gat-premiers-SUZANNE-444-photo-by-emanuel-gat-2021-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/emanuel-gat-premiers-SUZANNE-444-photo-by-emanuel-gat-2021-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/emanuel-gat-premiers-SUZANNE-444-photo-by-emanuel-gat-2021-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It was a pleasure to see how the\ncompany's dancers felt so comfortable performing &nbsp;Gat's movement perceptions which are based on\nintelligence, humanitarian approach and free spirited artistic building blocks.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The cast includes eight dancers, each\nwith specific attributes and varied dance background. They gave a decent fight\nfor Gat's own company with its personal diversity, sense of fluency, and\ncaptivating mixture of their elegance and nonchalant attitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"647\" src=\"https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Inbal-Dance-Theater-by-Emanuel-Gat-1122-Suzanna.-2021-1024x647.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Inbal-Dance-Theater-by-Emanuel-Gat-1122-Suzanna.-2021-1024x647.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Inbal-Dance-Theater-by-Emanuel-Gat-1122-Suzanna.-2021-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Inbal-Dance-Theater-by-Emanuel-Gat-1122-Suzanna.-2021-768x485.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Inbal-Dance-Theater-by-Emanuel-Gat-1122-Suzanna.-2021-1536x971.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/dancetalk.co.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Inbal-Dance-Theater-by-Emanuel-Gat-1122-Suzanna.-2021-2048x1294.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Gat often chose revered classical\nmusic to accompany his dance works, yet, &nbsp;his Salsa based miniature is well remembered\ntoo. For <em>Suzanne<\/em> he remixed fragments from Nina Simon's live recorded performance\nat the Philharmonic Hall in N.Y 1969, the year he was born. Her deep warm voice\nis mesmerizing, and sometimes overpowering. Her singular renditions to timeless\nhits such as 'Black is the color of my true love's hair', Leonard Cohen's\n'Suzanne' or bites from 'Hair', I believe, impose a measure of friction &nbsp;between powerful emotions and moods of the\nmusic, which at times fights with the movement for attention. At the same time,\nthe dance kaleidoscopic structure, elegant rhythms or emotional landscapes\ncomplied by different rules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Even so, '<em>Suzanne<\/em>' will be\nremembered for the refined achievement of Inbal dancers, their execution of\ncomplex timing cues needed for flawless smooth transitions from&nbsp; &nbsp;endless\ndisintegrating structures on the stage' space and unexpected regrouping\ncompositions. Their power as a group is their intimacy and ability to function\nas a team, never too busy with what they have to do at the moment to notice\nwhat each one is doing around them.
